He was a legend and many now may regard Sachin Tendulkar as an immortal in the cricketing books. As the Indian veteran completed his 100th international century on Friday, the world erupted in joy but the man was his modest best and said that the match result was the most important.
Sachin said he did not go into the middle against Bangladesh on Friday, with his mind fixed on his century. "I did not think about the milestone but everywhere I went, I heard talks about it. I was playing for the team, not for the century. Everyone had an opinion but I had my plans," he said adding that the feeling had not sunk in but that he had lost 50 kilos.
His most important message though was when he was asked what he would like to tell youngsters who watched him complete a milestone never reached by any other player. "Enjoy the game and chase your dreams because dreams do come true. Mine did when we won the World Cup after 22 years," said the champion player.
Sachin did take 147 balls to finish his innings on 114 and said that the pitch at Mirpur was on the slower side. "The ball was not coming onto the bat. I spoke to Virat and he agreed. We thought 270-280 would be good. This wicket was slower than the one we played on before."
