Bangalore:The Indian leg of IAAF World Athletics Day meet held in Bangalore attracted more than 1600 children from across the country.
The kids, who are on a summer vacation, were there just to prove that athletics in school is still not dead.
But what was interesting about the two-day meet was broad crossection of participants.
Clear favourite was seven-year-old Raju all of three and a half feet who set the track on fire with quick legs.
"I took part in long jump, 50 m, 60 m I ran in these," said Raju.
Sri Lankan kids
But it was not just kids from various schools across the country but the special invitees of 120 kids from Sri Lanka who stole the show.
"Athletics has got quite a place in Sri Lanka, we practice a lot and do quite well in competitions," said Setavya Mudalige, Sri Lankan participant.
Clearly cricket is not their only forte and hopefully the host nation picked up a few tips.
Participants chosen through a lucky draw will be invited to the 11th IAAF world athletics championship in Osaka.
