Asian Grand Prix meet in India
Hyderabad will host the inaugural Asian Grand Prix Athletic Meet on May 18.

Hyderabad will host the inaugural Asian Grand Prix Athletic Meet on May 18, Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI) President Suresh Kalmadi announced here today. The meet will take place in the new stadium getting ready for the next National Games, Kalmadi told reporters after the executive meeting of AAFI here. AAFI also announced a new competition, the National Inter-District Championships, to promote rural talent in more than 500 districts in the country. The AAFI President said only those districts which will conduct district meets will be eligible to participate in this new meet. Following the Hyderabad Grand Prix, two more such meets will be held at Bangkok (May 21) and Manila (May 26). The meets, which will offer a prize money of $2000, $1000 and $500 to the medal winners, will have 15 events and the best six athletes in the continent last year will be eligible for participation in the meet.
