Undeserving sportspersons getting Arjuna Awards: Milkha Singh

After receiving Lifetime Achievement Award at the 58th CSJC annual award ceremony, Milkha said his dream is to see somebody win an Olympic medal in athletics.

Kolkata: Flying Sikh Milkha Singh on Saturday lashed out against the authorities for giving Arjuna Awards to undeserving sportspersons and rapped athetes for taking banned drugs to enhance their performance.

The 77-year-old Milkha, who gave the country four gold medals from the Asiad and one from the Commonwealth Games, said the Arjuna should be given to the best of athletes.

"I returned the Arjuna Award (in 2001) because they gave it to me when I was well past my prime, terming it to be a lifetime achievement award. Before that I was awarded the Padma Shri.
