Indore:
All England badminton champion Pullela Gopichand today said Indian shuttlers were finding it difficult to adjust to the new points format introduced recently under which the game ends at eight points instead of the earlier 15. "New points format is advantageous to them (foreigners) and we are finding it difficult to adjust to it," Gopichand told reporters here. "It will take time for Indian players to adopt and adjust to the system," he added. Gopichand said India has a lot of inherent talent, but the system was such that its players were unable to get the desired focus. He advocated for adopting the systems of Indonesia, China and Malaysia to search and promote talent in the country. On setting up of a badminton academy, he said he was not in a hurry, though the Andhra Pradesh government had promised him all the help. Gopichand said his aim is to win at least four to five big international events before taking up the task of setting up an academy. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
