New Delhi:Monday was a day of two proud fathers, Abhinav Bindra's father in Punjab and Saina Nehwal's father in Hyderabad.
Saina is now in the last eight of the badminton singles event in the Olympics and her scientist father will hope his daughter defies all seedings to realise her Chinese dream.
She next plays Indonesia's Maria Kristin Yulianti, who is World No 16 on Wednesday
Saina Nehwal's father, Dr Harvir Singh doesn't tire of thanking all those calling in to congratulate on his daughter Saina Nehwal's march into the quarter-finals in the Olympics. The agriculture scientist took a day off from his lab to watch Saina in action.
"For her, this was the first target. She has beaten world number 4 to whom she has lost twice before," said Dr Harvir Singh.
Dr Singh gives all credit to Saina and her coach, former All-England champ, Pullela Gopichand.
"She is a formidable girl. If she keeps her focus, she will definitely come out with flying colours," he said.
Hopefully, a medal from Beijing too will find space in Saina.
