New Delhi:Olympic qualifier Akhil Kumar exuded confidence on Saturday as the Indian Boxing Contingent left for Beijing in the wee hours to participate in quadrennial event that gets underway from August 8 to 24.
The Indian contingent, comprising five boxers, two coaches, one physio and one manager left Delhi in the early hours and will reach Beijing by noon. South African Physiotherapist Heath Mathews will leave later.
"I will give my best shot and do whatever it takes to win the medal," said Akhil, who also represented India in the 2004 Olympics.
Giving a warm send off to the contingent, Boxing Federation President Abhay Singh Chautala wished all the boxers good luck and hoped for a podium finish at the event.
He said the whole country had faith in the five boxers and were hopeful that the prayers of the millions of Indian boxing lovers will not go in vain.
