Tejas retains second spot

Asian junior champion Tejas Bakre trounced Hungarian International Master Attila Czebe to retain his second spot while junior world champion Koneru Humpy drew with Andreas Schenk of Germany in the ninth round of the First Saturday GM chess championship being played at Budapest. The 21-year Tejas, whose consistency has been his boon in the tournament, tamed Attila Czebe to retain the second place with six points. Humpy, however, drew with the German IM Andreas Schenk and is placed fourth with five points after nine games with four wins, two draws and three defeats. Leading the table on 6.5 points is Hungarian Grandmaster Ferenc Bekes who split the point with Yugoslav GM Zlatko Ilincic, now placed third (5.5). Humpy next faces third seed Ilincic in the 10th round of the 13-round category IX tournament. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
