Birmingham:
In four Tests the 26-year-old Durham quick has taken 17 wickets, including four for 58 runs on Friday's second day of the ongoing third Ashes Test against Australia here at Edgbaston.
"There is no doubt that Graham thoroughly deserves his increment contract," Hugh Morris, the managing director of England cricket, said.
"He has been a valuable contributor to the England set-up since making his debut earlier this summer."
Onions made his Test debut against the West Indies at Lord's and made an immediate impact with five for 38. Hwe then took three more in the second and final match of the series at his Chester-le-Street home ground.
He was omitted from the side that drew the first Ashes Test in Cardiff, with England opting to play a second spinner in Monty Panesar, but was recalled for the second Test win at Lord's where he took three first innings wickets.
