New Delhi:Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram on Monday made it clear that he would only assist Kolkata Knight Riders as a consultant and not a full time coach but promised to take "a lot of load off the captain's shoulder".
Akram, along with John Wright, Richard Pybus, Sandeep Patil and Praveen Amre, is in the running for the job left vacant by John Buchanan.
But he seems to be in for a "specific" role after he described his meeting with owner Shah Rukh Khan as a "positive" one.
"It was quite a positive meeting. Ganguly, whom I know very well and have played a lot of cricket against, was also there," Akram said.
"I am available for a consultant's position. I told them what I could do for them. I told them that I can help their fast bowlers and chalk out a strategy for them. I can also take a lot of load off the captain's shoulders," the former Pakistan captain told a sports site.
