  • Abraham de Villiers (114 not out) has posted his first century against India - his fifth in ODIs. Villiers' previous best against India was an unbeaten 92 off 98 balls at Centurion on December 3, 2006.

  • Villiers had reached his century off 85 balls. He had posted a 75-ball hundred against England at Cape Town on November 27, 2009 - his fastest in ODIs.

  • Abraham de Villiers and Langeveldt were involved in a 32-run stand - South Africa's highest tenth wicket partnership against India, surpassing the 21 (unbroken) between Allan Donald and Dave Richardson at Mohali on November 22, 1993

  • Yusuf Pathan (2/37) has recorded his best bowling performance in India as well as against South Africa. His career-best figures are 3 for 56 against West Indies at Kingston on June 26, 2009.

  • Sachin Tendulkar has been adjudged the Man of the Match for the 61st time for becoming the first batsman to post a double hundred in ODIs.

  • Sachin has created cricket history with his magnificent unbeaten 200 off 147 balls. He is the first batsman to accomplish the feat. His previous highest in ODIs was an unbeaten 186 against New Zealand at Hyderabad (Deccan) on November 8, 1999.

  • Sachin became the first player to record four hundreds against South Africa. He also became the first player to post five innings of 150 or more in ODIs.

  • Sachin has become the first player to register two hundreds at this venue.

  • Sachin has taken his runs' tally against South Africa to 1859 (ave.35.07) in 54 ODIs - the most by any batsman against South Africa, obliterating the 1795 (ave.40.79), including two hundres, in 45 matches by Ricky Ponting.

  • Sachin is the first player to hit 25 fours in an innings, eclipsing Sanath Jayasuriya's tally of 24 fours during his innings of 157 off 104 balls against Netherlands at Amstelveen on July 4, 2006.

  • Sachin has set an Indian record for the highest individual innings against South Africa, surpassing the 141 not out by Sourav Ganguly at Nairobi (Gym.) on October 13, 2000.

  • Ricky Ponting's 164 at Johannesburg on March 12, 2006 was the previous best against South Africa.

  • India's 153-run victory is their biggest by runs margin over South Africa in India. India have equalled their previous best win against South Africa, having won the Dhaka ODI by 153 runs on April 13, 2003.

  • India's total of 401 for three is their highest ever against South Africa, eclipsing the 310 at Nagpur on March 19, 2000. India's previous best at this venue was 283 for five against Australia on October 26, 2003.

  • Thanks to their aforesaid total, India became the first team to register three totals of 400 or more in ODIs - their two highest totals being the 414 for 7 against Sri Lanka at Rajkot on December 15, 2009 and 413 for 5 against Bermuda at Port of Spain on March 19, 2007.

  • The match aggregate of 649 for 13 wickets is a new record in India-South Africa ODIs, surpassing the 630 for 17 wickets at Nagpur on March 19, 2000

  • Tendulkar an Dinesh Karthik have shared a 194-run stand for the second wicket - India's highest for any wicket against South Africa in ODIs, surpassing the 193 for the first wicket between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly at Johannesburg on October 5, 2001.

  • India's previous best for the second wicket against South Africa was 180 between Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar at Nagpur on March 19, 2000. The said partnership is now the highest for any wicket at Gwalior, surpassing the 190 between Tendulkar and VVS Laxman for the second wicket against Australia on October 26, 2003.

  • Karthik (79) has posted his highest innings against South Africa, surpassing the 44 in the previous ODI at Jaipur on February 21. 2010

  • Karthik's aforesaid half-century is his fourth in ODIs. Karthik's 79 off 85 balls is his career-best score, surpassing the 67 against West Indies at Kingston on June 26, 2009.

  • Parnell has earned an unwanted record for South Africa by conceding 95 runs (10-0-95-2) in India's total

  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni's unbeaten 68 off 35 balls is his highest score against South Africa, surpassing the 55 at Cape Town on November 26, 2006. Dhoni's 35th ODI fifty is his second against South Africa.

  • Sreesanth (3/49) has produced his best bowling performance against South Africa, surpassing the two for 74 at Jaipur on February 21, 2010.
