Johannesburg:
Smith had an X-ray done on the middle finger of his right hand which was fractured while taking a catch in Rajasthan Royals' Indian Premier League match against Delhi Daredevils earlier this week and he said he won't need a surgery.
"Just left the doc, good news don't need surgery, four weeks in a splint," Smith, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL III, said on his 'Twitter' page.
This is the second finger injury Smith has picked up in little more than a month. He had hurt his little finger on the left hand during the build-up to the Eden Gardens Test in February, which kept him out of the one-dayers against India.
South Africa's team manager Mohammed Moosajee confirmed Smith was expected to be back at full fitness in four weeks.
"Graeme will have a further X-ray on Tuesday to make sure his recovery is on track," he said.
