Lahore:
Qayyum on Saturday said that the former captain's statement presented to the appeals judge, Justice (retd) Irfan Qadir by the board was not the one he had given before the inquiry committee earlier this year.
"My client says it contains remarks that he never made when he was asked to appear before the inquiry committee. It also does not have remarks he had made to the committee," Younus' lawyer said.
"We have asked the appeals judge to direct the board to provide us with video and audio tapes of Younus' statement but they have failed to do this so far," Qayyum said.
Younus and another former skipper Shoaib Malik both appeared before the judge separately in Lahore with Justice Qadir adjourning the hearing of their appeals against their bans.
Malik will now appear before the judge on May 22 and Younus on May 29. Both the players have appealed against the bans imposed on them by PCB on the recommendations of the inquiry committee in March.
Younus, Malik and five other players were banned and fined by the PCB for indiscipline after the inquiry committee held a probe into the performance of the national team in Australia and into reports of infighting among players.
Younus and Malik were both charged by the inquiry committee of activities detrimental to the team.
Qayyum said Younus had himself strongly argued before the judge that his ban was unjust and should be suspended immediately.
"We told the judge that regardless of whether the board selects Younus for national duty or not, we want this ban suspended to clear the black spot on my clients career which has been clean and dedicated to Pakistan cricket," he said.
The appeals judge has so far refused to suspend the ban on the grounds that he wants to hear out both parties before taking a decision.
Qayyum said he was not satisfied with the behaviour of PCB as they were not co-operating with the hearing and not providing evidence material that he had asked for.
He disclosed that he had also submitted an application with the appeals judge, asking him to call members of the inquiry committee so that he could cross question them.
Malik, who also appeared with his lawyer, said he had given his point of view before the appeals judge and also asked for certain things to be made available to him by the board at the next hearing.
