Karachi:
"Mohsin feels that Shahid Afridi, Waqar Younis, Yawar Saeed, Salman Butt and even assistant coaches Aaqib Javed and Ejaz Ahmed all had roles to play in influencing the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and selectors to not pick experienced batsmen like Younis Khan, Muhammad Yousuf and Faisal Iqbal for the England tour and they must now share this responsibility with the selectors instead of putting all blame on selectors," a PCB source said.
"There is every likelihood that Mohsin may get show-cause notice from the Board to explain his conduct," he added.
Mohsin recently issued a media statement, which he now claims were misinterpreted, pointing out that it was not the sole decision of the selectors to pick the England-bound squad and the team management had also played an influential role in the final shortlisting.
The chief selector also made it clear that many of the selections were made on the recommendations and insistence of the captain and coach.
Sources said that coach, Waqar, Yawar and Afridi had all complained to the PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt about Mohsin's statement.
They see his statement as an attempt to shift blame on them for the selections after the PCB and selection committee came under fire from different quarters including the Karachi City Cricket Association for ignoring deserving talents.
"The relations between the chief selector and the team management are not very good at the moment and the PCB chief is under pressure to discipline Mohsin for violating the code of conduct for selectors where they are not allowed to give statements on policy matters," the source said.
Privately also Mohsin has blamed the team management for the state of affairs in England.
"Mohsin has also conveyed this to the Board Chairman that one reason for the poor performance in England is the bad handling of affairs by the team management including coach Waqar Younis," the source said.
Pakistan has struggled badly with their batting and fielding in the four Tests they have played against Australia and England losing three of them.
Worse, there are again rumors of problems within the team which could be a big blow to PCB that had blamed indiscipline by players as the main reason for the team's poor performance in Australia earlier this year.
"Ijaz Butt is facing a dilemma because clearly he would not like a situation where he has to change the chief selector once again because already in his 20-month tenure three former chief selectors have resigned or been asked to step down," the source said.
Mohsin is due to call on Butt tomorrow for a meeting that insiders say could have far reaching effects on the national team.
