Bengaluru:
Bedi was named in the original 55 inductees to the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in association with FICA in 2009. He had a successful county stint with Northamptonshire and finished his 13-year tenure with 1560 first-class wickets, more than any other Indian bowler.
The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame is a joint venture with Federation of International Cricketer Associations (FICA) set up in 2009, the ICC's Centenary year.
Â
On Wednesday, ICC and FICA announced four new inductees to the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame including West Indies fast bowlers Courtney Walsh and Joel Garner, along with the late Ken Barrington and Rachael Heyhoe Flint of England. Rachael Heyhoe Flint is the first woman to be inducted in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
Â
Bedi, who will receive his commemorative cap during the awards ceremony today will induct Walsh, Garner and Heyhoe Flint.
"I would like to congratulate all four of the new inductees into the Hall of Fame as well as Bishen Singh Bedi who receives his commemorative cap as an original inductee," ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat commented.
