New Delhi: Yuvraj Singh was not picked for the Test series against Australia when the squad was announced on Saturday. His mother, Shabnam Singh, told NDTV a day later that her son is on medication for lung infection but he hopes to be back for the ODI series.

Yuvraj has been out of the national side since the England tour earlier this year and recent reports confirmed that the south-paw had asked the BCCI not to consider him for selection. His family has called an "illness that threatened his career," caused by an "abnormal tumour" on his lung. Shabnam confirmed the news to NDTV on Sunday. "He (Yuvraj) is on medication and therapy for his lung infection," she said. "Yuvraj is hoping to be back for the ODI series."
