Mumbai: India will travel to Johannesburg to play a one-off Twenty20 match against South Africa on March 30 at the Wanderers. The match, ESPNcricinfo has understood, was planned well in advance and agreed to by both Cricket South Africa and BCCI. It is likely to be called the Mandela Cup.
Ratnakar Shetty, the BCCI chief administrative officer, confirmed the news and said India would send its first eleven to play the match.
Such showpiece matches, CSA sources indicated, are going to be an annual affair. In 2011 South Africa played a Twenty20 against India at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban as a farewell for Makhaya Ntini.
