Birmingham: Ian Bell was recalled to England's One-Day International squad for the upcoming three-match series against West Indies, starting June 16 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
Bell, who found a spot in the side after Kevin Pietersen announced his retirement from England's limited-overs teams last week, will open the batting with Alastair Cook. "He will open, he's got a lot of experience and he's in good form," said Andy Flower, the England coach, to Sky Sports. "As one door closes, another opens and I hope this one opens for Ian Bell."
Bell was the fourth highest run-getter in the recent three-Test series against West Indies, with 222 runs including three fifties in four innings. Bell is the only member of the current squad who did not feature in the ODI series against Pakistan in UAE in January.
