New Delhi: His team won the toss and opted to bat but Dale Steyn prepared relentlessly for the opening Test against Australia at Gabba. His approach? Hitting cardboard cutouts in the nets.
The pacer has been made target of off-field talks with former South Africa player and Australia's current coach saying Steyn cannot bowl at left-handers. Not surprisingly then, most of the cardboard cuts-outs on the eve of the opening Test resembled left-handers, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald.
The same report says that the Protean bowlers were out putting finishing touches to what they have been training for as South Africa look to defend their World Number 1 ranking in Tests.
