Adelaide: South Africa were forced into a late reshuffle after paceman Vernon Philander withdrew before the start of the second Test against Australia on Thursday with a back complaint.

Kleinveldt initially missed out on selection when legspinner Imran Tahir was preferred in the Proteas bowling attack after the drawn Brisbane series opener.
