New Delhi: The Sri Lankan team revolutionised one-day cricket by using fielding restrictions to the hilt. But now, Lanka have refused to implement the ICC's new changes, which promise to infuse fresh life into the one-day game. On Thursday, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board informed the BCCI that it could not try out the new ICC rules in next months tri-series due to technical reasons. The BCCI agreed to the Sri Lankan proposal after the ICC gave the go-ahead. But experts feel this move may not be in the best interests of the game. The ICC has put fielding restrictions and substitutions on a ten-month probation and changes will be used for the first time during next week's Natwest Challenge between England and Australia. The changes recommended by the ICC are purely tactical, so it comes as a surprise that the Sri Lankan Board has rejected their implementation during the forthcoming tri-series.
