When a team clinches a seemingly close encounter with eight balls to spare, it can afford to show some super-dude attitude. Kaunain Abbas did just that in the post-match presentation ceremony on Thursday night after Jain University, Bengaluru won their third consecutive match of the Toyota University Cricket Championship and became the first team to enter the semifinals.
The Bengaluru boys made shortwork of Aligarh Muslim University's 105 for nine and won handsomely by five wickets, but not before the team suffered some hiccups against some explosive fast bowling by the Northern Stallions, Aligarh. Jain were four for two wickets in the fourth over and when they were 63 for 4 in the 14th, Aligarh sniffed their chance.
"I don' think we panicked at any stage. I knew we had enough batting depth and our No. 9 and 10 are good batsmen. So we were quite confident that we would reach the target," Abbas said.
