New Delhi: Just ahead of the semifinals of the Toyota University Cricket Championship, Shivam Sharma has sorted a big worry for Kent Northern Stars Jamia Millia University. Striking a classy 49-ball 72 against Jaypee Cement Eastern Tigers APS University, Rewa on Friday night, Sharma not only justified his promotion as an opener but seemed to have cemented that position alongside the prolific and in-form Amit Verma.
Sharma, who won the Man of the Match award with his maiden 50 in T20 cricket, got his skipper Parveen Yadav's applause and was certain to open the batting in the semifinals.
"He is a very talented boy. But he would normally bat in the middle order. The team management thought that he should be made to open against Rewa and Shivam took the opportunity very well," said Yadav.
