New Delhi: The management of the Indian cricket team has decided that none of the players will undertake any media commitments for the moment. That however excludes the captain who has to do a mandatory press conference. "It's a collective decision of the team management and it has been taken so that the players can concentrate on the game," said Wing Commander Baladitya, Media Manager, Indian team. The decision means that players who usually write newspaper columns and have deals with TV companies are staying away from any form of a media commitment. Sympathetic media How long this self-imposed gag will last is anybody's guess. But strangely enough, even the media, which presumably is the hardest hit is sympathetic. None of the Indian players currently has a contract with the BCCI since there has been a delay in awarding the new contracts. But the board members are quite clear that even the current rules only allow the coach and captain to speak.
