New Delhi:
The four-wicket win against Sri Lanka in the fourth one-day international at Pune on Thursday has brought to an end three years of agonising draws and defeats for India. The victory not only enabled India to clinch the one-day series but has also silenced critics and delighted fans. Sri Lanka have been outplayed in all departments of the game and experts reckon that the islanders are finding it difficult to adjust to the new rules. "Sri Lanka have not adjusted to power play rules," said Ranjit Fernando, former Sri Lankan cricketer. Good show by novices A good show by the younger players in the squad also means that senior members hoping to find their way back into the team may find it extremely difficult to make a comeback. "The younger players in the team are batting and bowling very well. I thought Sreesanth bowled well," said Chandu Borde, former Indian Captain "hese boys have something to prove to keep their places in the team. That is what motivates them to perform well," Borde added. It is not just former cricketers who are elated with Indian team's performance. The triumph against Sri Lanka, coming as it does after a string of losses in the last season, has once again sent millions of cricket buffs into a frenzy. "I am very happy that India won and seems to be on a winning streak. I cannot express my joy in words," said a fan.Topics mentioned in this article
