Bangalore: Martin Guptill has been ruled out of the New Zealand team for the tour of Bangladesh in October due to finger and ankle injuries.
Guptill fractured a bone in his right little finger while batting in the Caribbean Premier League recently. After he returned to New Zealand, specialists advised Guptill that he will not require surgery but the finger needed to be immobilised with a splint. A full recovery was expected within three to five weeks.
Guptill has also been carrying a right ankle injury for the past year that Paul Close, the New Zealand team physiotherapist, has now advised a surgery for. The surgery will happen next month.
