With Harbhajan Singh now certain to miss India's historic tour to Pakistan and question marks still being raised about Anil Kumble's fitness after he missed the VB Series Final against Australia, the pressure of leading India’s spin attack could fall on the shoulders of Railway's off spinner Kulamani Parida. He could be the best replacement for Harbhajan Singh according to Captain Sourav Ganguly. “I was very happy since I have been performing well for the past three years. I have taken nearly a 150 wickets over the last 3 years. If dada has said good things about me then I am really happy,†said Parida. Having played with Railways for the last few seasons, Parida will have gained some good experience playing with the likes of Sanjay Bangar and Murali Karthik, both established Internationals, but Parida knows that replacing someone like Harbhajan Singh in the national team will be no easy task. Hailing from a small village in Orissa, Kulamani had to work hard to get where he is today. Cricket had always been his first love but playing for his country - that was something that had never crossed Parida's mind. “I had never really thought about it when I started cricket. But when I started to perform well I thought that maybe someday I might just get a chance,†said Parida. Whether Parida plays for India or not is a decision that lies in the hands of the selection committee but one thing is for sure, Parida will certainly have a lot to offer if he is chosen to play for India.
