Rahul Dravid wants law to tackle match-fixing, doping

Rahul Dravid (file photo)Former Indian Test captain Rahul Dravid called for legal intervention to tackle match-fixing and doping in sports. Addressing a Central Bureau of Investigation conference on Tuesday, Dravid said the current framework was not good enough to tackle corruption in sports.

At least four players from Rajasthan Royals, including former Test pacer S. Sreesanth, are alleged to have fixed matches in return for money during this year's Indian Premier League. Dravid was the skipper of Rajasthan Royals and was devastated when the news of spot-fixing broke.

"According to me four things in sports need immediate legal intervention: Age fraud, doping, deliberate underperformance and involvement of players in betting," Dravid said.
