After ICC World Twenty20 exit, Mohammed Hafeez quits as Pakistan skipper

Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinal of the ICC World Twenty20 after badly losing to West Indies in a crucial match on Tuesday. Skipper Mohammed Hafeez took responsibility for the failure.

Mohammed Hafeez has resigned as Pakistan's T20 captain. Hafeez had led the team in the ICC World Twenty20. Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinals after suffering a huge defeat to the West Indies in a group match on Tuesday. Shahid Afridi is a strong contender to take over this role.

Taking responsibility for Pakistan's failure to defend the World Twenty20 crown, Hafeez pleaded with the fans to accept it gracefully and not react like "bad losers".

"We accept responsibility for playing poorly against the West Indies in the crucial match but we must also not be bad losers.
