Islamabad: Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Rameez Raja has claimed the full backing of the Board and said he has no plans to quit despite strong criticism in the wake of series loss to India. "If someone thinks that I will be stepping down due to the negative criticism on me after defeats of the Pakistan team, he is wrong. I do not have such plans," he told the media in Lahore last night. Raja, who has come under intense criticism for holding dual posts as Board CEO and TV commentator, said a group of former Test cricketers was busy in maligning him with their baseless statements during and after the series. "If they think that in this way they can force me to quit, they are wrong. PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan has reposed his full confidence in me. And I will continue to serve the game," he was quoted as saying in the local daily Dawn. Before Raja addressed the press, PCB officials released the figures of Raja's expenditure as CEO which they said was the lowest compared to his predecessors. Terming him as 'Mr. Clean', the PCB officials said he had not availed many perks and worked without receiving any renumeration. Raja said he always welcomed constructive and positive criticism but "criticism which aims at the promotion of vested interests is hampering the cause of cricket". (PTI)
