Attacking Australian batsman David Warner welcomed his first child - a baby girl - with partner Candice Falzon, on Thursday.

In a tweet, the cricketer made the announcement and said that Falzon was in good health. He also thanked friends and family for their support and wishes. "@CandyFalzon and I are happy to announce the arrival of our little girl Ivy Mae Warner to the world. Mum & bub doing fantastic!," he wrote on the microblogging site.

The 27-year-old New South Wales cricketer is all set for the new innings as a father and will also reportedly marry Falzon early next year. The two were extremely pleased when they announced the pregnancy earlier. "It's amazing, my life is a fairytale," she was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph. "I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I have found my true love and someone who I can be myself with. He has filled my heart with love and he has taught me how to love properly."

While Warner may be a romantic off the cricket field, he has ripped bowlers apart on it - his 1287 runs from 42 ODIs a firm sign of his prowess. Falzon though has her own claim to fame - she is a professional ironwoman, surf life guard and model. The Australian media even reported previously that she led an active life through her pregnancy months.

Interestingly, the couple met through Twitter and Warner chose the same network to announce the birth of his first.
