Bangalore:
Opener Virender Sehwag was today summoned for a disciplinary hearing by ICC Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle on charges of misconduct on the fourth day of the first cricket Test against Australia here. Sehwag exchanged words with umpire Billy Bowden of New Zealand after he ruled him out leg before for a duck against paceman Glenn McGrath during India's second innings. Television replays showed Sehwag had edged the ball on to his pad. Madugalle summoned the batsman for a hearing after the umpires reported the incident to him. The Sri Lankan said he had conducted the hearing, which was also attended by Indian coach John Wright, after close of play. The Match Referee said he would announce his verdict tomorrow. Madugulle said normally it is the concerned Cricket Board which announces the verdict, but because of legal issues involving BCCI, he would make the announcement himself.
