Melbourne:Cricket Australia said today that leg-spin bowler Brad Hogg has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal due to a torn left hamstring tendon. Hogg, who will return to Australia for treatment, sustained the injury while bowling during a net session at Edgbaston in England on Sunday. He was officially released from the tournament following a review by a representative of the ICC's medical panel. Australia plays England in the semifinal today at Edgbaston. Australian team physiotherapist Errol Alcott said Hogg would be placed on a three- to five-week rehabilitation programme. "I knew that the injury was fairly serious as soon as it occurred but being an optimist, thought I still might be able to play with it. That's obviously not the case, so all I can do now is get back home and try and be as fit as possible for the start of the state season," Hogg said. (AP)
