Bangalore:
The selectors were watching the India A Vs India Seniors game today in Bangalore, but they don't know if they will be the ones selecting the team for the first test Vs Australia since the BCCI elections take place tomorrow. However, S Sriram made sure that even the future selectors would be impressed with his 110 not out for India A, who made 282 for 7 at the end of the first day of the warm up game. Sriram shines "Everything seemed to be going right. I seemed to be hitting the middle of the bat quite often. I was happy with my frame of mind," said Sriram. The four-day match not only gives the senior players the much needed practice in the longer version of the game ahead of the 4 tests vs Australia. "There was no time at all, so the best way was to have a match between the India A team and the current senior team just to keep them going into the rhythm and get into the match practice scenario," said Syed Kirmani, Chairman of Selectors. Disappointing performance It's not been the best of times for Indian cricket a€" the Asia cup in Sri Lanka, the matches in Holland, the Natwest Trophy and the ICC Champions Trophy were all disappointing for Indian fans a€" to say the least. The warm up match is important - for those finally selected to play Australia to find their form - and also for those players on the fringe - hoping to catch the eyes of the selectors. "It is a very important game because I am just taking it one innings at a time, so I am not really thinking about selections and I am not putting pressure on myself. As far as I am concerned every game and every innings is important. My job is to keep scoring runs," said Sriram. If ever the Indians needed a warm up game it is now after their very lukewarm performance in the recent past. The four-day match will hopefully straighten out the kinks as the team will need all the help it can get against the formidable Australians.Topics mentioned in this article
