Vadodara:With the first ODI against Australia round the corner, most members of India's Twenty20 World Cup winning squad got barely a day's break after that unforgettable welcome party.
While some like skipper MS Dhoni decided to stay back in Mumbai, others made a whirlwind trip back home.
Pathan brothers Irfan and Yousuf got heroes welcome at the Vadodara airport on Wednesday evening.
The duos looked exhausted after a busy day in Mumbai but were still enjoying the great reception.
"I cannot believe it till now. I am really tired, haven't slept for two nights but this happiness is above everything. We got unbelievable reception in Mumbai and here. Never thought it will be like this," said Irfan Pathan.
The duo had scripted history by becoming only the third pair to have played in a world cup final after the Chappell and Waugh brothers.
It called for a double celebration in the family and the world cup win proved the proverbial icing on the cake.
"It is a rare thing. We were not expecting it but Yusuf got the chance in the final of the tournament. He did well in the pressure game. My bowling was also good but the best thing was that we won the World Cup," said Irfan.
A smiliar welcome party was in store in Delhi for Gautam Gambhir, India's top scorer in the final.
The southpaw, who gave his team some great starts in the tournament, was also clearly overwhelmed with the post victory celebrations.
"Winning the cup was more important. It wouldn't have mattered really had I scored 75 or 30 if we had lost the final. Winning the world cup is above everything," said Gautam Gambhir.
But, there is no time for the cricketers to party with their families. They leave for Bangalore on Thursday to play the first one dayer against Australia on Saturday.
