New Delhi:
Kapil Dev says its absurd the world's best left-hander right now is left out while the NDTV cricket expert Navjot Sidhu has said that it is a ridiculous decision.
Yuvraj, an ODI man?
How tough is it to make it to the Indian cricket team, Yuvraj Singh will certainly be asking himself this question after he found out that a man of the series performance against Pakistan in the one-dayers was not good enough to earn him a spot in the test squad.
It is not just the last series, Yuvraj has been in the form of his life and most cricket experts most notably Navjot Sidhu believes that it is nothing short of ridiculous that he has not been included.
The dashing left-hander has been just a passenger in the test squad since June 2006, unable to find a slot in the Indian middle order.
Six sixes in an over, one match winning performance after another in one dayers but nothing Yuvraj does seems to be enough for him to make a place for himself.
"This is cowardice from the selectors," commented Sidhu on how ridiculous is Yuraj's being branded as one day player.
Part of the problem for Yuvraj has been that the two players he could possible replace have scored runs.
Sourav Ganguly is averaging 45 in tests since he made a comeback in the last two major series against South Africa and England. He has made four half centuries from 12 innings.
VVS Laxman now just a test player has not disappointed either. In South Africa his average was 36 but he came up with two half centuries and had two more from five innings in England.
So what more can Yuvraj do other than score runs. Well perhaps, he could work some more on his bowling.
