Kolkata:
Earlier, seamer Umar Gul was sent home after he aggravated a back injury while bowling at the nets at the Eden Gardens on Thursday.
Shoaib Akhtar is still feeling very weak after a severe chest infection forced him to be hospitalised for a day.
Misbah-Ul-haq, Mohammad Sami and Salman Butt are also down with viral infections, and Captain Shoaib Malik's nursing sore ankle.
"We are trying to get 11 fit players first," said Shoaib Malik, Captain, Pakistan Cricket Team.
The Pakistan selectors have been sent a wish list, and some replacements are expected to arrive before the second Test.
Malik, who is under serious pressure, has been accused of not being worth his place on the side and that his captaincy has not been hard and aggressive.
"Some players respond well to aggression, others need to be encouraged calmly. At a time when we are under so much pressure I feel its better to be calm while dealing with my team," said Malik.
India's only injury concern remains Mahinder Singh Dhoni, who has a sore ankle, a final decision on the vice captain will be taken on Friday morning.
Kumble, meanwhile, sees this as the perfect opportunity to wrap things up, and his strategy is to go for the kill in Kolkata and wrap the series up with a 2-0 lead in the 3 Test series.
