New Delhi:
Situation 1: Sri Lanka beat India with bonus point
Sri Lanka, currently on 6 points, would reach 11 points with a win with bonus point against India.
It's the best result they could get out of the Hobart game, but they would have to follow it up with at least a draw, tie or simply a win against Australia. Else, India (on 12 points) will move ahead.
Situation 2: Lanka win, without bonus point
Assuming Sri Lanka beat India without a bonus point, they would then need to win the game against Australia to move to 14 points, 2 ahead of India.
If the Australia game ends in a no result, then India and Lanka would both be on 12 points.
Situation 3: If India win, draw or tie
However, India only need to win (4 points) or draw (2) the Hobart game to reach the finals.
Odds heavily in India's favour
The odds are against Sri Lanka but their batsmen need to come good in this series. What better time than now, to thrash India and Australia and settle all matters.
India, on the other hand, only need to keep their cool and look to beat Sri Lanka to secure their date with Australia in the first final in Sydney on Sunday.
