Hyderabad:India XI followed up a solid batting display with a disciplined bowling performance to rout World XI by 44 runs in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) 20s World Series on Saturday.
Put into bat, the Indian XI posted 163 for eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs before returning to the field to restrict their opponent to 119 for eight.
After World XI captain Chris Cairns inserted them, India XI got off to a flying start with openers Ibrahim Khaleel (14) and Ganapthy Vignesh (24 off 10 balls) putting on 28 runs in the first three overs.
Michael Kasprowicz drew first blood for the World XI by removing Khaleel but S Abbas Ali struck a 36-ball 44 and Abhishek Jhunjhunwala (27) and Man of the Match Stuart Binny (21) made handy contributions to help the home side reach 163 for eight after 20 overs.
Chasing the target, World XI never got the start they needed and did not get enough partnerships to go anywhere near the rivals' score. For them, Matthew Elliot (19) and Marvan Atapattu (20) got the start but could not last long enough to guide the side to the target.
For the Indian XI, Binny and Ali Murtaza grabbed two wickets apiece.
