New Delhi:

It seems their defeat to Mumbai Indians few days back really spurred Rajasthan Royals as they bounced back successfully and drubbed Deccan Chargers by eight wickets in the return leg of the DLF Indian Premier League in Jaipur.

After restricting Chargers for 140 runs, Rajasthan Royals started off on a solid note. Their most successful batsman, Yusuf Pathan continued with his purple patch and slammed his third fifty of the tournament. Yusuf made 68 runs with the help of nine fours and two sixes and steered his side to the threshold of their sixth win. His opening partner Graeme Smith (40) was happy to play the second fiddle.

Yusuf Pathan bagged his second Man of the Match award of the tournament for his all-round performance. Apart from the blazing knock, he had also taken Styris' wicket.

Rajasthan Royals now lead the points table with 12 points.

Earlier, the Deccan Chargers lost their way after a good start provided by the stand-in captain Adam Gilchrist and could manage only 140 runs at the loss of eight wickets.

Rajasthan bowlers justified their skipper Warne's decision to bowl first and picked wickets regularly. Munaf Patel struck in the seventh over to remove Gibbs. From there on wickets kept tumbling.

A team that boasts of a formidable batting line-up has failed to fire in unison. Names like Shahid Afridi, Herschelle Gibbs, Scott Styris have not lived up to their reputation.

Adam Gilchrist, who led the side in the absence of regular captain VVS Laxman, was the only player to show some resilience and amassed 61 runs before falling prey to Siddharth Trivedi.

Chargers' in-form batsman Rohit Sharma was caught napping and was run out by Shane Warne. He could add only five runs.

Deccan Chargers are now placed seventh in the table with just four points.
