Mumbai:
"Mr Sharad Pawar, the President of the BCCI, will attend the celebratory dinner that has been organised to commemorate the silver jubilee of India's World Cup triumph, at the Long Room, Lord's, on Wednesday, 25th June 2008. He will also speak at the function," a BCCI media release said on Tuesday.
"The highlight of the function will be the felicitation of the Indian cricket team that won the World Cup at the same venue exactly twenty-five years ago," it added.
The players of that team nicknamed "Kapil's Devils" were felicated by the BCCI at a specially organised function in New Delhi on June 22.
The dinner, organised by cricket legend and a member of that victorious team - Sunil Gavaskar, is a way to re-live that glorious chapter not only in Indian cricket but in the country's sports history.
The members of the Kapil Dev-led team, barring Ravi Shastri, had earlier departed for London from Delhi with their spouses by an Air India flight.
Before departure, Kapil and the rest of the team cut a cake to mark the occasion and the legendary all-rounder thanked Air India for making their departure "a momentous occasion even though 25 years have lapsed."
