Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara on Monday rated his century in the third cricket Test against India as a tough one and said it was one of the best that he had achieved so far.

Sangakkara scored 144 in the first innings to help his team win the third and final Test match against India and clinch the three-match series 2-1.

"I have always considered a 100 is a 100, no matter how you get it and this one was a tough one. It is one among the best and I am happy to get that," Sangakkara said.

He said it was the contribution coming from the young guns, which made all the difference.

"It was the leadership coming from the young players like Mendis and Prasad which helped us to win the match. Both of bowlers made themselves counted and contributed at regular intervals," he said.

Sangakkara also praised Chaminda Vaas for his contribution with the bat in the first innings.

"It was a case of putting pressure on the Indians by scoring as many runs as possible. Even Vaas contributed immensely. He was sent as a night watchman but he hang in there and scored some crucial runs," he said.
