Bangalore:Indian captain Anil Kumble, who is nursing a shoulder injury, will probably miss the second Test starting from October 17 in Mohali.
The team management has confirmed his injury and said that he's being treated by team physiotherapist Nitin Patel and will take the field as soon as he feels better.
Kumble had demoted himself down the batting order on Day 3 of the Bangalore Test and did not take the field in the first session on Sunday when Australia came out to bat in the second innings.
On what is a turning track, this injury could affect India badly as it may leave them with just one specialist spinner, Harbhajan Singh. In that case, part time spinners like Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag will have to share the ball from the other end.
Reports suggest that it is a 50-50 chance that Kumble will bowl in the second innings. In fact there's a slim chance that he might be ruled out of the rest of the series. With Kumble approaching the end of his career this injury may just be another dampener. Many believe in case he doesn't make a quick recovery, this might as well be his last outing.
