Jaipur:Riding on their fabulous success in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals are now trying to increase their fan base and the franchise has launched an exclusive membership programme.
The vice-chairman of Rajasthan Royals, Ravi Krishnan said his team was first among the IPL franchises to start such an initiative.
"We wish to raise a number of ardent fans who would support their team in Rajasthan and when it is playing at other places," Krishnan said.
In absence of Shane Watson, who was supposed to attend the function, the Maharaja of Jaipur Brigadier Bhawani Singh unveiled the five tier membership programme and was presented with the first membership by the Rajasthan Royals.
The membership will allow the loyal Royals to become part of the exclusive community prior to the Champions League Twenty20 2008 and the second edition of IPL in 2009.
The membership also ensures the tickets of Rajasthan Royals matches apart from other attractions like autographed bats, official team jerseys, chances of photo session with team members and opportunities to attend the team parties. The membership charge ranges from Rs 2,500 to Rs 1.5 lakhs and the privileges vary accordingly.
Krishnan assured that Rajasthan Royals will have more representation from Rajasthan Players.
"Precisely with a view to increase the representation of local players we are holding selection trials on 25th October to tap the local talent. Selected players will be trained to become cricketers of tomorrow. We have specific requirements for Rajasthan royals," said Krishnan.
