Chandigarh:
"Lalit Modi is talking through his hat. It seems he is scared of us (ICL)," India's legendary spin bowler and ICL match referee, EAS Prasanna said.
He said from Modi's comments, "it appears a 75-year-old organisation (BCCI) is feeling scared and insecure from an infant (ICL)."
"If a senior player in the team feels scared or insecure from a new comer in the team, it is time for him to go."
ICL's Executive Board member and former India wicket-keeper Kiran More, too, expressed his anger over Modi's comments made on Friday.
"It seems he is saying this more out of frustration. They know ICL is doing a good job in promoting cricket, that's why they are showing such desperation," More said over phone from Vadodara.
Modi, who is also the BCCI Vice President and part of a five-member ICC panel to review the laws governing official and unofficial cricket, had said that ICC cannot sanction the "rebel" league as it did not satisfy the norms of authorised cricket.
He stressed that "the ethos and the new tournaments that are coming up by corporates are for profit making.
"You cannot have a monopoly. In fact, more and more leagues like the ICL should be encouraged. If Mr Modi is talking about profit making, then what is IPL about. Are corporates not involved there," More questioned.
