Chandigarh:
"There is no better person than a player himself to take a decision on his retirement. I think there should be no pressure from any side and a player should judge it for himself," Hick, who has recently joined an ICL team, said during an interaction with the media here.
The 42-year-old Hick, who played 65 Tests and 120 ODIs and called time on his first-class career last month, said he had enough cricket before calling it a day.
Hicks, who is playing for the Chandigarh Lions, said increasing popularity of T20 cricket, especially among the youngsters, cannot erode the status enjoyed by Test cricket.
"I don't think anything can take the place of Test cricket. It is the pinnacle and important to world cricket and I don't think it will die. T20 provides a huge marketing tool and brings in money and the need is to find a way so that both can go hand in hand," he opined.
"The cricket administrators should use T20 as a tool to draw benefits but at the same time they should be careful in striking the balance with other formats."
