Karachi:The Senate standing committee on sports will have a look into the reports that made the basis of Malik's removal from the captaincy of the national cricket team by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
According to the agenda for the hearing with the former and the present PCB officials on February 9 in Islamabad, the Senate committee has asked the Board to furnish the report of coach Intikhab Alam and manager Yawar Saeed.
PCB sacked Malik and appointed Younis Khan as the new captain of the team, on Tuesday.
Sources in the Board said besides the reports of the coach and manager, input was also taken from other sources before taking a decision.
"In the meeting held to discuss Malik's future, Director-General Javed Miandad and chief selector Abdul Qadir had opposed changing the captain and had advised Chairman Ejaz Butt to wait until the Test series against Sri Lanka was over," one source said.
The source added that Miandad had also confronted Alam on his role in the series loss to Sri Lanka and pointed out several tactical blunders in the second and third match.
"When Miandad asked Intikhab that when Pakistan was chasing 310 in the final match why Shahid Afridi wasn't sent to open the innings, he (Intikhab) claimed Afridi had refused to go opening. At which point Miandad then questioned the purpose of having a coach and manager who can not command discipline in the team," the source said.
On February 9, the Senate committee has also summoned former Chairman Nasim Ashraf, former chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi and other former officials to defend themselves against allegations of financial mismanagement made by the present Chairman Ejaz Butt.
The Senate committee has also asked the Board to bring the details of the salaries and other perks being given to the coach and other officials.
The Senators have also asked for a complete briefing on the status of development projects underway at stadiums in Lahore and Pindi.
The Board will have also have give answers for Pakistan's debacle against Sri Lanka and provide the balance sheets of expenditure and income of the Board from June to December, 2008.
