Johannesburg:
David Morgan, ICC president, who brokered the three-hour long talks, said that "sadly no agreement was reached."
He said the application by the Indian Cricket League to be recognized by the ICC will be referred to the council's board meeting to be held in April in Dubai.
Those attending the meeting included the council's chief executive Haroon Lorgat, Indian cricket board secretary N. Srinivasan and Himanshu Mody from the ICL.
Morgan said the talks had been held in a "very friendly manner" and he repeated his call that a solution to the dispute was good for the "whole game."
The rebel league has rankled the Indian cricket board, which has imposed life bans on all Indian players taking part in events organized by the newcomers.
The dispute has also forced several other cricket boards in the region to take punitive action against players who feature in the ICL, which started in 2007.
