Statistical highlights after the third day's play of the first Test between India and New Zealand on Friday.

  • India (520) posted their highest total at Hamilton, outstripping the 416 in 1998-99.

  • India became the first visiting side to post a total of 500 at Hamilton. Overall, the said total is the second best at Seddon Park, next only to New Zealand's 563 against Pakistan in 2003-04.

  • India's aforesaid total is their first ever of 500-plus in New Zealand, obliterating the 482 at Auckland in 1989-90.

  • Zaheer Khan became the seventh Indian to complete 200 Test wickets when he had Tim McIntosh caught at first slip by Sachin Tendulkar.

  • Zaheer is the first left-arm speedster from India to claim 200 Test wickets. Overall, he is the seventh Indian bowler to bag 200 wickets.

  • The top seven Indian bowlers are: Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (316), Bishan Singh Bedi (266), Bhagwat Chandrasekhar (242), Javagal Srinath (236) and Zaheer Khan (200).

  • Sachin Tendulkar has registered his 42nd century - his fourth against New Zealand, equalling Rahul Dravid's Indian record.

  • Yuvraj Singh's 22 off 50 balls is his highest against New Zealand, bettering the 20 at Mohali in October 2003.

  • In his last 12 innings away from home, Yuvraj has not recorded a fifty. His last fifty-plus innings away from home was recorded 38 months ago - 122 against Pakistan at Karachi in January 2006.

  • Zaheer Khan (51 not out off 46 balls) registered his highest score against New Zealand, surpassing his 19 at Wellington in 2002-03.

  • Zaheer's first two fifties were 75 against Bangladesh at Dhaka in December 2004 and 57 not out against Australia at Bangalore in October 2008.

  • India have taken a first innings lead of 241 - their biggest against New Zealand in New Zealand, surpassing their 148-run lead in the 1975-76 Auckland Test when they had made 414 in response to New Zealand's 266.
