Dubai:
Australia, with 123 points in their kitty, toppled India, who figures third in the ladder now with one point less, thanks to a victory against South Africa in Johannesburg last Friday.
But, Michael Clarke's brigade can return to the top of the table with a 5-0 whitewash of Pakistan in the ODI series commencing Wednesday, while the same margin for Pakistan would take it to third and drop Australia to fourth.
India enjoyed the second spot for a brief period after clinching the five-ODI series against fourth-placed New Zealand in latter's own backyard.
Cricket-starved Pakistan comes fifth followed by England, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to top the batsmen's list while his teammate, master batsman Sachin Tendulkar slides down two rungs to settle on the 13th spot.
Other Indian batsmen Yuvraj Singh (5th), opener Virender Sehwag (7th) and his partner Gautam Gambhir (17th) remained static in the ranking table.
Left-arm paceman Zaheer Khan, who retained his 15th place with 643 points, remains to be the only Indian in the top-20 bowlers' list, headed by Sri Lanka's Nuwan Kulasekara (743).
Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan sits on the third spot, sandwiched by two New Zealanders Kyle Mills (2nd) and captain Daniel Vettori (4th).
Yuvraj is the only Indian among top-five all-rounders and holds on to fourth position in the table, which is still topped by Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh.
